Writer: Mrs Crafty LabMrs Crafty Lab

If you’re looking for a sign to add a wedding newspaper to your big day, this is it. And if you’re looking for an excuse to spend a good few minutes swooning over an impossibly gorgeous wedding, you’re also in the right place. Let’s talk about how Olivia & Edward absolutely nailed the personalised wedding stationery game—and in a way we haven’t seen before.

The kind of front-page news everyone actually wants to wake up to. Olivia & Edward’s wedding newspapers made the perfect morning read.

An Iconic Wedding Calls for Iconic Newspapers

Olivia first discovered The Crafty Lab on Instagram before she’d even dived into the depths of wedding planning. "I first found Crafty Lab on Instagram right at the very beginning (if not before) we started wedding planning! We just knew we had to have them."

It was love at first sight, but there was just one small problem: the wedding newspaper format she envisioned wasn’t available yet. Did she settle? Absolutely not. Olivia held out, and when we introduced folded full-size newspapers, she was straight in there with an order. "Time paid off and surely enough once the tabloid size became available and the order was placed!"

Now, Olivia is a DIY bride at heart—she did a lot of her own stationery—but when it came to the newspapers? "I honestly wouldn’t have done anything differently. They were perfect and whilst I did a lot of stationery DIY, I wouldn’t have wanted to do the newspapers myself as I just trusted the process so much."

A slow wedding morning with your best girls, a glass of fizz, and a personalised newspaper all about you? Now that’s main character energy.

How the Wedding Newspapers Made Their Debut

This is where things get interesting. We’re used to seeing wedding newspapers at ceremonies, receptions, and dotted around venues. But Olivia had a different vision.

She and her bride tribe were staying at Thicket Priory, a stunning venue with 35 rooms.

Instead of placing newspapers on tables or handing them out, Olivia put one in every single guest room. "We stayed in a venue with 35 rooms so every room had a newspaper to enjoy and the remainder were set up in the bar." Can you imagine waking up on a wedding morning, rolling over, and finding a beautifully designed newspaper waiting for you, filled with personal touches and wedding day itinerary details? The ultimate thoughtful touch.

Olivia and Edward chose to have extra newspapers which were set up in the bar, ready for guests to peruse over a pre-ceremony drink. A full editorial experience.

Forget small talk—this is how you get guests hooked before the ceremony even begins.

Guest Reactions & The Post-Wedding Hype

At first, Olivia wasn’t sure if people had read them. But then the photos started rolling in—guests completely immersed in their luxury wedding newspapers, and a few even took them home as keepsakes. "We were unsure if day guests had read them until we saw photos of them being used!" She also sent a couple to family friends who couldn’t make it to the wedding, creating a lasting memento of the day.

A Few Honourable Mentions

Let’s take a moment to talk about Olivia’s favourite feature—the bespoke poem written by her friend. "We had a friend write a poem which we absolutely loved and felt very personal." These are the moments that take a wedding newspaper from a creative extra to something truly sentimental.

And then there’s the delivery story. Christmas post delays were a concern, but we don’t do wedding stress at The Crafty Lab. So, we delivered them personally. "We had some concerns about Christmas post issues and so the team delivered them personally!! An incredible touch and we were so happy when they arrived." Because details like this matter.

Final Thoughts? A Wedding Must-Have!

When asked if she could imagine her wedding without her personalised wedding newspapers, Olivia’s answer was a firm ‘No.’ And when asked what she’d tell someone considering ordering one? "They’re a lovely unique touch." We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

If you’re thinking about adding a wedding newspaper to your day, consider this your sign. Whether they’re in hotel rooms, at the ceremony, or tucked into guest bags as a wedding keepsake, one thing is certain—they’ll always be a talking point.
